Some youth on Wednesday afternoon attacked the Odorkor branch of the Glorious Word and Power Ministries International in Accra, where Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah is the head pastor.
Rev Owusu Bempah had predicted on New Year’s eve that some Ghanaian leaders including the Chief Imam, Sheihk Nuhu Sharabutu will die this year.
The unhappy youth, who issued a warning to Rev Owusu Bempah to apologise and retract his pronouncements, also warned that, they will attack the church until they receive the apology.
They stormed the church premises at Odorkor on Wednesday, wielding machetes and other implements and vandalised the place.
Someone thought to be a gateman had a narrow escape as he run for his life with only a loincloth on. He had been smoked out of the security post at the gate and upon seeing the machete and stones wielding youth, he retreated back into the room and slipped out, running out of the premises unto the main road and out of sight for his safety.
The youth then entered the premises and vandalised anything they chanced upon in the courtyard, smashing glass windows and pulling down a giant signpost which had the portrait of Rev Owusu Bempah on it.
One person thought to be the leader of the attackers was heard saying he knew the man, [Owusu Bempah] and that he was hiding inside the building and dared him to come out.
He indicated that was a warning for him to be watchful of his pronouncements.
The man thought to be the leader then called the youth off the premises but that was not before they ensured that the main signpost was completely destroyed.
