In a recent turn of events, Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Essikado-Ketan, has openly criticized Felix Kwakye Ofosu for demonstrating disrespect toward President John Dramani Mahama. Bissue’s comments were made in light of Kwakye Ofosu’s reaction to the ongoing cocaine plane saga and the National Intelligence Bureau’s unsuccessful attempt to arrest Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South.
Bissue expressed disapproval of Kwakye Ofosu, who serves as the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications. According to Bissue, Kwakye Ofosu’s public statements on the issue were made without presidential approval, undermining both the president’s authority and the country’s image.
During an interview on Asaase Radio, Bissue remarked, “Felix Kwakye Ofosu airing his views without waiting for the president’s directive or official findings from security agencies is not just a sign of disrespect towards President Mahama but also tarnishes Ghana’s reputation.”
Stressing the importance of adhering to protocol, Bissue indicated that Kwakye Ofosu should have restrained from public commentary until the security agencies, as instructed by the president, had concluded their investigation and shared their findings.
Bissue further criticized Kwakye Ofosu for acting independently and positing hypothetical scenarios regarding presidential actions. “His actions suggest a significant disconnect, portraying the president as vulnerable,” Bissue pointed out.
Bissue concluded by emphasizing the need for Kwakye Ofosu to respect presidential authority, stating, “He must be reminded that the presidency represents all Ghanaians, not just a single political party. It is crucial for him to act in a manner that upholds the dignity of the presidency.”
