Corruption blocking Ghana’s progress is a serious threat to the nation’s future,” said Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, during the 2025 Asogli Yam Festival on October 5. He emphasized that only truth and integrity can drive lasting development.
Togbe Afede urged political and traditional leaders to act with honesty and serve the public good. He noted that corruption persists because too many people abandon the truth and prioritize personal gain over collective progress.
“The theme of this year’s celebration highlights honesty, unity, peace, and prosperity. When we work together in truth and harmony, we can build a strong and peaceful nation,” he said.
He explained that Ghana’s development depends on transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership. Without these values, national progress will remain slow.
Togbe Afede called on citizens to demand integrity from those in power and to practice it in their daily lives. He believes Ghana’s full potential can only be achieved when corruption is defeated and honesty becomes a shared value.
