On January 14, 2026, John Dumelo, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, took swift action to support commuters facing transportation challenges in Accra. In a widely shared video on social media platform X, Dumelo announced that he personally covered the transport fares for individuals traveling from Okponglo to Lapaz as well as from Shiashie to Madina.
This initiative was launched in response to reports of significant transport shortages that were leaving many individuals stranded during peak hours. Dumelo emphasized that this move was intended as a temporary relief for those affected, stating, “This is a short-term measure, and I am working on a longer solution.”
He also expressed gratitude towards Metro Mass Transit for providing buses to facilitate this effort, highlighting the cooperation between public transport services and his office.
