New iPhone 17 Air Leak: Slimmest iPhone Yet?

In a twist that has tech enthusiasts buzzing, Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch the iPhone 17 Air alongside the iPhone 17 lineup. This new model is expected to replace the Plus, focusing on a remarkably slim design. Notably, the iPhone 17 Air might be Apple’s slimmest smartphone to date. Excitement has ramped up following leaked hands-on images from the reputable leaker, Majin Bu.

Sleek and Slim Design

Majin Bu shared photos of what appears to be a dummy iPhone 17 Air unit, aligning with earlier leaked renders. These images reveal the sleek matte finish of the phone and a single rear camera. The design closely mirrors the previous iPhone 16 lineup but features a distinctive camera bump reminiscent of the Google Nexus 6P.

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be just 5.5mm thick. Leaked measurements of the dummy unit suggest a thickness of 5.44mm, slightly more than Apple’s thinnest device, the M4 iPad Pro (5.1mm). If these numbers hold true, the iPhone 17 Air could become the world’s thinnest smartphone, surpassing Tecno’s 5.75mm Spark Slim concept phone and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge at 5.84mm.

Display and Camera Features

While the iPhone 17 Air is not set to compete on specs, it is rumored to feature a 6.6-inch ProMotion OLED display with ultra-slim bezels. However, the advanced scratch-resistant Ceramic Shield display might only be reserved for the Pro models, as suggested by MacRumors. Apple reportedly hesitated to make the iPhone 17 Air as large as the iPhone 16 Pro Max due to durability concerns with such a thin frame. The device is expected to sport a single rear camera, similar to the iPhone 16e, alongside an upgraded 24MP front camera.

Hardware and Pricing

Under the hood, the iPhone 17 Air might be powered by the A18 or A19 chipset, equipped with 8GB of RAM and Apple’s C1 modem. This positions it on par with the base iPhone 17. Apple is also working on iOS 19, promising customizable user interfaces and a simplified navigation style inspired by Vision Pro’s OS. Priced at around $900, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to fill the
