For some time now, the discussion on the prohibition of activities related to the LGBT+ community has been trending on social media for some time now. It even went international after Sam George, the member of parliament for the Ningo Prampram constituency was interviewed on CNN on the “Anti-LGBT+” bill in Ghana.
The bill has gotten the attention of almost every Ghanaian since it sets to promote the “Proper family values” of the Ghanaian society and it has gotten almost everyone talking despite some people are of the view that the bill is against human rights and it needs to be scrapped. As well as the threat from the religious organizations that any political party or politician which/who will vote against the bill will be voted out of power.
According to Twene Jonas, who is known for his social media activism, Ghana is not yet ready to legalize homosexuality in the country and the president must not think of legalizing it. And any person who is in Ghana and wants to practice such an act should just go and get a visa and fly to countries that permit that.
