In a primary held on Saturday Madam Lydia S. Alhassan secured 441 votes to beat four other contenders. Aboagye polled 76 votes, Ato William 131 votes, Victoria Esinam Odei one vote and Samuel Owusu Amankwa 19 votes.
One of the widows of Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, Madam Lydia S. Alhassan has been elected to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election following Mr Agyarko’s sudden death. Responding to the victory, Madam Alhassan dedicated the win to her late husband. we are in this together, let us go out there and face Delali Brempong (NDC candidate) and retain the seat.”
In a word of caution to the NDC candidate, Madam Alhassan said: “Delali be ready, 31st January we are coming after you like ‘kakai’. “We did it together, this victory is not only for Lydia but for the five of us (contenders)”.
