UNLEASH is a non-profit founded in 2016 with the aim of developing solutions to the SDGs and building capacity for young people from around the world. UNLEASH offers four different programs: A Global Innovation Lab for the SDGs taking place every year and gathering 1,000 young people, UNLEASH+, a pre-accelerator program for teams who have participated in the Innovation Lab, A Storyteller Lab for emerging impact journalists, and UNLEASH Hacks, which are localized hackathons. UNLEASH Hacks are localized hackathons designed to address sustainability challenges in specific contexts around the world. Through a collaborative 2-day event organized by UNLEASH alumni and their network, passionate talents work with local stakeholders and community leaders to collectively solve problems and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. Each Hack focuses on one region and one sustainability challenge. For now, all Hacks in 2021 will take place online over two Saturdays. This year the UNLEASH Hack in Ghana focuses on increasing job creation opportunities for young people and discovering green startup ideas for a thriving Green Economy in Ghana. Ghana’s youth unemployment is 12%, while underemployment is 50%, both higher than the overall unemployment rates among Sub-Saharan African countries. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this problem is expected to intensify. The hack would help increase job creation opportunities for young people and discovering green startup ideas for a thriving Green Economy in Ghana. If you are interested in contributing to the development of our dear country, even as you are committed to self-development and improvement, and willing to co-create innovative solutions with peers while receiving mentorship from experts to contribute to decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), and responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), then apply to be part of UNLEASH Hacks Ghana happening on May 15 and 22, 2021 in Ghana. Apply here: Application deadline is April 25, 2021! Learn more about the hacks and find links to apply at www.unleash.org/hacks! A big thank you to our organizing team members who are doing an incredible job of engaging the people of Ghana in the SDGs!
