Electrification Project Transforms Savannah Region Communities

In a significant development for the Savannah Region, the communities of Kpanshegu and Kpaliguni in the Salaga North Constituency have been newly electrified under the Rural Electrification Project. This initiative marks an essential milestone in efforts to enhance infrastructure in rural areas.

The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Mumuni, officially launched the project, recognizing the patience and cooperation of the community members throughout the implementation phase. Fulfilling a campaign promise from the 2024 elections, Alhaji Mumuni committed to extending electrical power to every unconnected area within the constituency.

Expressing his satisfaction, Alhaji Mumuni noted, “I am delighted to see the completion of this project, albeit delayed. The commendable support and patience of the chiefs, elders, and residents have been vital.” The electrification is anticipated to significantly enhance living conditions and stimulate development in these locales.

With electricity now available, educational opportunities will improve as students can study after sunset, while traders and artisans can prolong their business hours with access to electric-powered tools. Alhaji Mumuni emphasized the government’s resolve to address developmental disparities by ensuring that all regions benefit from vital infrastructure improvements.

Residents are encouraged to leverage this new power supply by engaging in activities that could enhance their economic status, thereby contributing to national progress. Alhaji Mumuni also advised on energy conservation practices, such as turning off unused appliances.

The MP reassured that further efforts are in motion to connect additional communities to the national grid, ensuring no area is left without power.

Issaka Abdulai, the Sub-Chief of Kpaliguni, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community, highlighting the project’s potential to invigorate economic and social services, thereby providing substantial relief to the residents.
