GACL Enhances Airport Signage at Accra International Airport

GACL Enhances Airport Signage at Accra International Airport

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has successfully completed the much-anticipated upgrade of airport signage at the Accra International Airport. This development comes in response to previous concerns raised regarding the quality and visibility of the earlier signage installations.

The comprehensive upgrade involved repainting and general enhancements designed to improve both the visibility and quality of airport signage. The work was completed on Saturday, March 21, 2026, following earlier delays. Importantly, the maintenance was strategically carried out overnight to minimize disruption to passengers and airport operations.

The primary objective of this upgrade is to enhance navigation within the airport, particularly around Terminal 3, which is integral to international travel. This upgrade is part of broader efforts to enhance facilities and improve the passenger experience, thereby positioning Ghana as a more formidable aviation hub in West Africa.

The recent signage improvement follows the government’s decision to restore the airport’s original name to Accra International Airport. As part of this rebranding initiative, authorities have indicated that updates to signage, documents, and communication materials will be rolled out in phases.

Public and stakeholder feedback played a pivotal role in prompting these improvements. GACL has acknowledged that the input received was crucial in guiding the upgrade process.

Ultimately, this signage upgrade is a significant component of a larger airport rebranding and modernization effort. It aims to enhance user experience, improve clarity, and bolster Ghana’s image on the international aviation stage.
