Health Minister Advocates for Audit of Oti Region’s Healthcare Facilities

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has initiated a call for a comprehensive audit of healthcare facilities in the Oti Region. This request comes in the wake of his two-day working visit to the area, where he assessed the conditions faced by newly assigned medical personnel and addressed key issues surrounding their motivation and retention.

During his visit, Akandoh toured the proposed location for the upcoming Oti Regional Hospital. He emphasized the necessity of thorough documentation and adherence to legal protocols to ensure the timely commencement of construction activities. The minister highlighted that meticulous attention to these processes is essential to prevent any delays.

Engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders, including the Oti Regional Coordinating Council, local Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, and traditional leaders, the Minister discussed the implementation of incentive packages aimed at enhancing the working conditions for healthcare professionals. Collaborative strategies to boost health outcomes in the region were also a focal point of these discussions.

A comprehensive audit of the health facilities, as articulated by Akandoh, is expected to provide essential data regarding infrastructure, staffing levels, equipment availability, and service delivery deficiencies. This information will equip the Ministry of Health and its affiliated agencies to enact targeted interventions effectively.

Akandoh reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to collaborating with both regional and district authorities to fortify the healthcare system in Oti and to push forward plans for the establishment of the Oti Regional Hospital.
