According to Twene Jonas, Kennedy Osei knows nothing about what it means to struggle in life Social commentator and government critic, Twene Jonas popularly known as ‘glass nkoa’ has reprimanded Kennedy Osei following his advice that Ghanaians should endeavour to sleep more often. The son of business mogul, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, was recently captured on social media advising Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of having enough sleep as it enhances the general well-being of humans and increases one’s life’s span. What did Kennedy say?“The shorter your SLEEP, The Shorter your LIFE! Lack of Sleep is a source of ageing and decline in the proper functioning of the brain. Sleep is a source of the immune booster and a natural developing factor for every living organism. “Having a deep and sound sleep is a non-negotiable biological necessity and not an optional lifestyle luxury,” he wrote on social media. Trail of heavy public backlashKennedy has since not had it easy with Ghanaians who feel he isn’t in the right capacity to offer such a piece of advice since he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. To most critics, Kennedy does not know that it is by forfeiting sleep that many Ghanaians make ends meet. The latest to join in criticizing the Despite Group of Companies General Manager is Twene Jonas.Twene Jonas ‘fights’ Kennedy In one of his viral videos, Jonas has described as ‘lame and stupid’ Kennedy’s ‘so-called’ advice to Ghanaians. “Don’t ever talk or try to advise Ghanaians again. You don’t know how it feels to hustle. You don’t know how it feels to struggle to make ends meet so you’re not in the right capacity to talk. If he’s watching this, tell him not to dare respond or else I’ll deal with him drastically. “Because you think you are married, you have an easy life so you can say whatever you like. You haven’t sold pure water before, neither have you sold farm produce just to pay your fees. Keep quiet and let us talk,” “Desist from writing anything on social media. You can come and post a picture or two but don’t ever try to give out any form of advice. You don’t have the experience or the capacity to do that. Your father should be the one doing that and not you. It’s your father I want to challenge and not you. I am richer than he is,” he added.

O’ Sec Tech students develop ballot box to stop multiple voting
Some prospective students of the Ashanti-Region-based Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in a move to help address challenges during voting including multiple voting have come up with a smart ballot box. The ballot box according to the students displays the total number of ballot papers in the box and also prevents eligible voters from voting twice. Explaining how the modern box works, the Senior High School technical students said “the smart ballot box has two compartments; the part that takes the paper from the voter and the box itself The paper compartment has a paper roller made with some PVC pipes, a gear motor, and a sensor to detect the voter’s closeness to the box. The paper compartment (rollers) is adjusted to take one paper at a time When the voter is about 40cm to the ballot box, the paper compartment is activated to allow the voter to cast his ballot. A red light is shown to alert the voter that the system is ready When the voter places the paper on the space provided, the system will automatically take the paper from the voter and drop it into the box and count it as one (1) and display the number on a screen for public viewing. Subsequent votes will be counted and total votes displayed on the screen.” The Head of the Robotics Club Mr. Solomon Nchor in a blog post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh, has said he believes the project will solve challenges associated with voting processes in Ghana and the world at large. Meet the man who woke up with a female sex organ a day after breaking up with a girlfriend (video)
The bizarre story of a man who claimed to have gone to bed as a man but woke up with a female sex organ has left many people scratching their heads. According to him, he broke up with his girlfriend after a misunderstanding and he didn’t know what happened to his body over that night before he woke up as a woman. “I slept as a man and woke up a woman just one day after a breakup,” the man told Afrimax English. He narrated that he was born male and went to bed with a male organ on the night of the breakup only to wake up feeling unusual. He developed a female organ alongside his manhood but the female one was active and the male one wasn’t. He went further to recount how he raised an alarm and some fetish priests were summoned to enquire into the development before he was informed that he had been bewitched by his ex-lover. The man-turned woman has started living completely as a woman and wearing female dresses and make-up. He alleged that his former lover confessed to changing him to a woman in retaliation for cancelling their wedding which was due in weeks. Interestingly, he is now married to a man who constantly fears he might just return to his original state one day. He added that although he lives in an anti-LGBTQ community, he is given the benefit of the doubt because the community knows about his situation. Source: pulse.com.gh
GES locks up, takes over Achimota Preparatory School by court order
A court has given the Ghana Education Service to go ahead to take over the running of Achimota Preparatory School.GES officials in the Okaikwei North District have locked up the school consequently. A GES statement said the court gave the order in March 2020. The GES had always argued the school belonged to the government since the land on which it sits formed part of Achimota School Land per the Achimota School Ordinance No. 7 & 1948. In January 2020, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school vowed to resist any attempt by GES to take over the school. The PTA said the school was a private institution and, therefore, the GES had no right to take over a private entity. In a letter addressed to the Regional Director of the GES at the time, Ms Monica Ankrah, the PTA said the GES had failed to give any lawful reason, short of regulatory matters, why they would have to take over the management of another corporate entity registered and limited by guarantee. “You are showing disregard for the pupils, staff and their livelihood on a whim and we deserve the right to defend our investment and reputation with any means possible,” the PTA said. According to the PTA, Ms Ankrah said when the GES takes over, “all government policies to public schools shall be applied to the management of the school.” The angry parents and teachers said they considered Ms Ankrah’s statement as grossly uninformed because short of regulatory matters, the school was not a public school and “it is certainly not government policy to go about taking over private properties.” “Your office has no right to assume management of a school in which it is not party to, and which not subvented by government. Your action is tantamount to a hasty coup and meant to result in a physical clash,” they added. The PTA further noted that if the Achimota school land was the basis of Ms Ankrah’s action, then she was engaging in selective action against APS because among several other occupiers of Achimota lands include the Girls Guide, the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research, University of Ghana, several interdenominational churches, a police station, private commercial businesses, private garages and other private residential and commercial building. The parents and teachers explained that the Achimota Golf Club operates on Achimota lands mostly as a commercial entity, but continues to occupy substantial portions of Achimota lands without any action from the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, however, she has “resorted to concocting reasons to seize APS into government fold. This, we consider discriminatory for reasons that can only be described as unfounded.” The school has about 700 pupils and more than 50 employees. It was set up by expatriates in the colonial era for their children, staff of Achimota School and the University College of the Gold Coast. The expats bequeathed the school to the locals but GES said Achimota School granted a lease to APS in the 1960s to allow it to operate from the premises but that lease expired in 1970. Stephen Karanja: Kenyan anti-vaccine doctor dies from Covid-19
A Kenyan doctor who became a vociferous opponent of the Covid-19 vaccine has succumbed to the virus, weeks after saying the jab was “totally unnecessary”. Dr Stephen Karanja, chairman of the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association, advocated steam inhalation and hydroxychloroquine tablets. He clashed with the Catholic church over the safety of the Covid jabs. Health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO) rejected his claims. “[The vaccine] being distributed in Kenya, has been reviewed and found safe not only by the WHO rigorous process but also by several stringent regulatory authorities,” the WHO said in March. The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops also distanced itself from Dr Karanja’s view on the Covid-19 vaccines, saying the vaccines were “licit and ethically acceptable.” Kenya received just over a million vaccine doses from the global Covax initiative, most of which have been administered. The country has confirmed more than 160,000 cases and 2,707 deaths. In March, the government imposed another lockdown restricting movement in five counties after a surge in new infections. What did Dr Karanja say about the Covid vaccine? In a letter dated 3 March Dr Karanja said that “there are drugs that have been repurposed and used effectively to treat Covid-19,” adding that “we also know that vaccination for this disease is totally unnecessary making the motivation suspect.” He went on in different forums to advocate alternative treatments, including steam inhalation and a cocktail of drugs – including hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, which have not been approved by the WHO to treat Covid-19. Dr Karanja, who was an obstetrician and gynaecologist, died on Thursday a week after he was admitted to hospital suffering from complications caused by a Covid-19 infection. What else has Dr Karanja said? Before falling out with the Catholic church in Kenya about the safety and efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine, Dr Karanja often allied with the religious leaders to oppose mass vaccination campaigns. In 2019 he led the opposition against vaccination of schoolgirls against cervical cancer, saying the jab against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) was unnecessary because it affected those “whose lifestyle involves irresponsible sexual behaviours”. In 2014, his association opposed the government’s rollout of a tetanus vaccine targeting women, claiming it was a sterilisation campaign, despite local health authorities, the WHO, and the UN children’s agency Unicef saying the vaccine was safe. In both instances, the government carried on with its plans, but officials reported that they encountered vaccine hesitancy as a result of the objections raised by Dr Karanja. He was also a prominent anti-abortion campaigner and appeared in court in 2018 as an expert witness in a case in which the government was sued for withdrawing guidelines on abortion. The high court ruled that the government decision was unlawful and illegal. Though shunned by a majority of health professionals in Kenya, the Catholic church recognised his association but often hastened to add that Dr Karanja did not speak for the Catholic church. “The mandate of the church is to speak on matters of morality and faith. The mandate of the doctors is to speak on their understanding of their scientific practice. We are not at variance,” Father Ferdinand Lugonzo, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops spokesperson, told the BBC. Source: bbc.com
