A group of students from the Applied Technology Institute in East Legon, Accra, have successfully assembled a bicycle, demonstrating the practical application of their technical education. This initiative, in collaboration with Trans-Sahara Industries, highlights the potential of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in supporting Ghana’s industrial ambitions.
The project underscores the shift towards competency-based education in Ghana’s TVET sector, equipping students with industry-ready skills. This approach aligns educational outcomes with the labor market’s evolving demands, fostering a production-oriented academic environment.
Addressing a delegation from the Ghana TVET Service, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing technical education through strategic investments in infrastructure and curriculum development. The minister emphasized that such achievements are crucial for driving job creation and entrepreneurship.
Education advocates are calling for more investment in similar programs to broaden students’ access to practical learning experiences. The success of these students serves as a testament to the sector’s capacity to contribute significantly to national development and industrial growth.
