GIPC CEO Urges Diaspora to Invest in Ghana’s Economy

Simon Madjie, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), has urged Ghanaian expatriates to diversify their financial contributions to the country. Speaking at a crucial Bank of Ghana roundtable event in Virginia, USA, Madjie highlighted the need for a strategic shift from merely sending remittances to engaging in high-impact investment ventures within Ghana.

Madjie pointed out the significant role remittances have played but stressed that investing directly in structured opportunities can drive greater economic growth. He emphasized that such investments could significantly contribute to sectors that are pivotal for national development, offering long-term benefits for both investors and the country.

The CEO’s remarks come at a time when the Ghanaian government is actively seeking to attract foreign investment to bolster various economic sectors, including technology, agriculture, and infrastructure. Madjie noted that professionals in the diaspora possess the skills and resources necessary to make substantial contributions through these investments.

By transitioning their approach from remittances to targeted investments, Ghanaian professionals abroad can play a vital role in fostering sustainable economic growth, according to Madjie. The GIPC aims to facilitate these investments by providing the necessary frameworks and support systems to ensure successful outcomes.
