In a strategic move to bolster economic growth and tourism, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, has engaged with investors from the United States. This initiative aims to create job opportunities for the youth and enhance tourism in the Western Region of Ghana.
The discussions centered around leveraging Jomoro’s rich cultural heritage, extensive coastlines, and unique ecological sites to attract tourism. Jomoro houses the Ankasa National Park, a significant conservation area that spans over 509 square kilometers, offering a lush habitat for diverse wildlife.
Nzulezo, a village on stilts known for its centuries-old history, alongside Fort Apollonia, the last English fort built on the Gold Coast, were highlighted as key attractions. The Osagyefo Barge, a dual-fired power unit located in the region, represents another unique aspect of the area’s development potential.
Madam Affo-Toffey emphasized her commitment to translating these discussions into tangible investments. ‘As a representative of the people, I am dedicated to initiatives that foster job creation and community upliftment,’ she stated. The collaboration is seen as a pivotal step towards advancing national development through strategic partnerships.
