Man Demands GH¢70,000 Refund After DNA Test Reveals He is Not Father

In a striking case from the Northern Region, a 32-year-old man named Mayemoh Gyangamo is pursuing a refund of GH¢70,000 from his former girlfriend, Maakua, after a DNA test revealed he is not the biological father of her daughter, Patricia Donkor. This revelation has brought to light a series of financial transactions that Gyangamo claims he made during their relationship.

The controversy was highlighted on the program Oyerepa Afutuo, aired on Oyerepa TV on January 30, 2026. Gyangamo recounted the significant financial obligations he undertook following Maakua’s pregnancy, including a demand from her family for an upfront payment of GH¢7,500, which he alleges was taken by her father.

“If the child is not mine, then I will take all the money that I have spent. Her father took GH¢8,000 from me,” Gyangamo stated, expressing his frustration. He detailed that the cumulative expenses related to the pregnancy and childbirth surpassed GH¢50,000, with additional costs bringing his total expenditures to around GH¢70,000.

Among his expenses, Gyangamo mentioned spending approximately GH¢33,000 on the child’s naming ceremony alone. He also highlighted a GH¢2,500 payment for Maakua’s surgery during childbirth, as well as financial support for baby items and other costs incurred throughout the pregnancy.

Gyangamo claims that Maakua had previously indicated she belonged to a royal family, stating that this status prevented her from continuing their relationship after giving birth. He expressed his discontent over what he considers exploitation by her family, and he is adamant about recovering the money he spent during their time together.

As this story unfolds, it raises questions about financial responsibilities and the complexities surrounding paternity and relationships in modern society.
