Nana Akufo-Addo Commemorates JB Danquah with Statue Unveiling

In a significant tribute to a key figure in Ghana’s political history, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has unveiled a statue dedicated to the late Joseph Kwame Kyeretwie Boakye Danquah, commonly referred to as JB Danquah. The ceremony took place in Akyem Adadientem, Eastern Region, coinciding with the 61st anniversary of Danquah’s death.

This event marks a moment of reflection on Danquah’s substantial contributions to the nation’s independence and development. A prominent lawyer, scholar, and statesman, Danquah was instrumental in the struggle for Ghana’s liberation from colonial rule. He was born into the esteemed Ofori Panin royal family and made history as the first West African to earn a PhD from a British university.
