Five individuals are in critical condition following a severe vehicular accident at Anloga Junction in the Ashanti Region on Friday afternoon. The incident has raised concerns over road safety and traffic management in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. when a truck driver lost control of the vehicle’s steering. The truck subsequently collided with a private car and a rickshaw, commonly known as a ‘Pragya’, on the bustling thoroughfare. The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the truck driver, the rickshaw operator, and the occupants of both vehicles with serious injuries.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene, providing critical first aid before transporting all five victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The nature of their injuries necessitated immediate emergency treatment, highlighting the gravity of the incident.
The collision resulted in significant traffic congestion, as the overturned truck obstructed the busy route. Officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service were deployed to manage the situation. They worked diligently to direct traffic and coordinate the removal of the damaged vehicles to restore normalcy on the road.
This unfortunate event at Anloga Junction unfolded just hours after another serious crash in the Ashanti Region. Earlier that day, a tipper truck collision at Santasi Apire Himang resulted in two fatalities and additional critical injuries, compounding the region’s road safety concerns.
Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further accidents. The recent spate of collisions has prompted calls for enhanced road safety measures and increased police presence on major routes to ensure the safety of all road users.
As investigations into the causes of these accidents continue, the community remains on edge, hoping for the recovery of the injured and the implementation of effective measures to prevent future tragedies.
