Black Stars Coach to Stay in Hotel as Residence Repurposed

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that Carlos Queiroz, the newly appointed head coach of the Black Stars, will temporarily reside in a hotel upon his arrival in Ghana. This arrangement comes after the conversion of his designated residence into office space.

According to Sheikh Tophic Sienu, the GFA’s Senior Manager of Communications, the decision was influenced by the transformation of a five-bedroom property located in Accra’s prestigious Airport Residential Area. Originally allocated by the Sports Ministry in 2018 for the national team coach, this residence has now been repurposed to serve as administrative offices.

Sienu elaborated, “The official house intended for the Black Stars coach has been adapted for office use. As Queiroz makes his first visit to Ghana, he will be accommodated in a hotel.”

He justified the change by highlighting that the property had seen limited use over recent years, as some previous coaches either had existing accommodation in Ghana or did not require the residence. “Some coaches with ties to Ghana already had their own housing, so the building was underutilized,” he stated.

“We felt it was prudent to optimize the use of the space by converting unused areas into a Technical Hub to further the development of Ghanaian football,” Sienu added.

Appointed on a short-term deal intended to prepare the team for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, Carlos Queiroz is expected to be officially introduced to the public today.
