Max Verstappen is focused on enhancing Red Bull’s performance despite securing fifth place in the Miami Sprint Qualifying. The Dutch driver acknowledged that while the car is not yet at its peak, the team’s recent upgrades have shown promise.
Verstappen, starting from the third row at the Miami International Autodrome, managed to surpass key competitors Mercedes’ George Russell and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. He was six-tenths behind polesitter Lando Norris, but the improvements allowed him to escape the midfield pack.
“The car feels more cohesive,” Verstappen commented on the enhancements. “We’ve seen progress, cutting the gap from over a second to nearly half. However, the first sector remains challenging due to high-speed demands.”
Red Bull introduced several upgrades, including a modified rear wing, resembling Ferrari’s ‘flip-flop’ design, contributing to the improved performance. Verstappen noted a growing trust in the car’s capabilities, though he desires further refinements.
Meanwhile, teammate Isack Hadjar faced challenges, qualifying ninth and expressing frustration over being a second behind Verstappen. Despite making it to SQ3, Hadjar seeks answers and plans to collaborate closely with his team for improvements.
As Red Bull continues to refine its strategies, Verstappen’s determination for advancement remains unwavering, aiming to enhance the team’s competitive edge in upcoming races.
