Caitlin Clark Suffers Knee Scare in Indiana Fever Preseason Game

In a highly anticipated homecoming, Caitlin Clark’s return to the court was marred by a knee injury scare during the Indiana Fever’s preseason matchup against the Dallas Wings. The game, which took place on April 30, saw the two-time WNBA All-Star exiting early after an awkward landing.

Clark, who was the top pick in the 2024 draft, has been eagerly awaited by fans, especially after a challenging 2025 season limited by injuries. Her return was met with enthusiasm, but the excitement was short-lived. Midway through the third quarter, Clark attempted a three-point shot over Alanna Smith of the Wings. Unfortunately, she landed on Smith’s foot, leading to an awkward fall and apparent knee pain.

Despite the incident, Clark managed to score 21 points before her early departure. Speaking post-game, she assured, “I feel good. I just landed hard on my kneecap.” Head coach Stephanie White explained that Clark’s early exit was partly due to a pre-planned strategy to manage her workload carefully. White emphasized the importance of caution, acknowledging the relief that Clark appeared unharmed after the fall.

The Fever concluded the game with a 95-80 loss. They will wrap up their preseason on May 2 against Nigeria’s national team at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
