In a concerning development, a group of Ghanaian tomato traders fell victim to a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The attack was confirmed by the Ministry of the Interior, which described the incident as alarming.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak issued a statement on February 15, highlighting the troubling nature of the reports from Burkina Faso. The attack reportedly targeted a military installation in Titao, resulting in significant damage to the facility, as per local accounts.
The statement from the Ministry revealed, “The Government of Ghana has received distressing news concerning a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana that was caught in the crossfire of a terrorist incident in Titao on February 14. The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is actively working with local authorities to gather information and provide assistance to any affected nationals.”
Titao, located in the northern region of Burkina Faso, has been plagued by ongoing violence and remains a hotspot for attacks by Islamist militants since 2019. This latest incident raises further concerns about the safety of traders operating in the area.
